HBO Airs Michael Mann’s “Public Enemies”

Public EnemiesNew York, July 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Michael Mann’s gangster thriller “Public Enemies” was aired on HBO on July 10. The movie casts Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the lead role and offers an impeccable drama that turned out to be more than a visual treat for all viewers on Saturday.

The movie happens to be one of the finest offerings from Hollywood which looks markedly different from all other movies. The film is shot in high-definition digital that undoubtedly elevates modern American cinematic vision beyond its limit. The story revolves around John Dillinger; a farm boy from Indiana who turns out to be one of the famous outlaws of all time. Johnny Deep who essays the role of John Dillinger in the movie takes a different stance from his usual character roles which he is so good at. Christian Bale is cold yet he leaves a very deep impact owing to his tremendous screen presence.

“Public Enemies” shot against the backdrop of the Great Depression of 1933 is more than a gangster picture which dotes high on modern framework of cinema. The movie is fast paced yet its absorbing. The performances aren’t explosive but reserved. The director gets the full credit for creating an environ that is a product of digital manipulations which heightens the plot and adds to the intensity of the drama as the story unfolds.The movie is certainly no exception to other movies of Michael Mann which concentrates a lot on men at work against the sinister forces which keeps altering their destinies. The outcome is obvious, brutal and bloody and certainly there isn’t any respite.
