Harry Potter’s favourite game sweeping UK, US universities
October 17th, 2010 - 2:57 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 17 (ANI): Harry Potter’s favourite game, Quidditch, is taking universities in Britain and the US by storm.
Both Oxford and Cambridge Universities have signed up with the International Quidditch Association after Harvard Princeton and Brown, where Harry Potter star Emma Watson is studying, all set up their own teams.
The “Quidditch” storm started at Middlebury College, Vermont, in 2005 - now it even has its own World Cup of the ball game played on broomsticks.
“It all started off as a joke in the bar one evening,” the Daily Express quoted law student Jack Williams, 18, who is captaining the Cambridge team, as saying.
“When we found Quidditch could be played by muggles [non-wizards], and there was a league in the US, we were very keen to find out more,” he added.
Now Jack and co-captain Ellie Chan, 20, are planning a match against Oxford. (ANI)
