‘Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows - Part 2′ shatters several box office records

Los Angeles, July 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2″ has shattered several box office records in history. On the first weekend of the release of the movie in the cinemas in the United States and Canada, the movie managed to gross $168.6 million at the box office.

The amount is unprecedented in the history of the box office. In becoming the highest grossing box office movie, the Harry Potter shattered the three-year record held by “The Dark Knight.” The Harry Potter amount is the initial estimates from the various cinemas and the amount might be much higher in real terms.

The movie is also doing well in the worldwide box office. So far, the movie has managed $307 million in 59 other countries throughout the world. The amount is also the highest for any movie. The amount from the international cinemas could be much bigger because the movie will open in the world’s most populous country, China, next month.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2″ is the eighth and the final movie of the highly successful movie franchise. Warner Bros. is expecting more than $1 billion from the global box office.

The highest grossing global box office record belongs to Avatar which earned $2.8 billion in 2009.
