arts-harry-deathlyNov 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As expected by movie reviewers and critics, the latest film in the celebrated Harry Potter franchisee namely “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ has set the box office on fire with a record iMax showings in USA. It is slated to become a massive Hollywood blockbuster of the year. The midnight screening of the penultimate Harry Potter movie garnered $24 million which is an impressive figure by all means. However, it could not overtake the record set by the werewolf vampire romance “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” which had garnered $30 million. However, it could not break the record of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” which had fetched $26.3 million on the opening night last year.

Nevertheless, it would be unfair to undermine the success of the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ as it became the movie in the franchisee with the highest opening. The previous record was held by last year’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” which had an opening day collection of $22.2 million in Canada and United States. However, Warner Brothers the studio that produces the ‘Harry Potter’ movies is upbeat about the success of the latest one in the series. So far, the latest flick has got mixed reviews from the critics who have praised the acting skills of the cast but have pointed out the gloominess and dark ambiance the movie has.

The “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ is likely to smash competition at global box office this week. It is possibly going to put animated flick ‘Megamind’ in second spot and eat into the collection of other movies like ‘Due Date’ and ‘Unstoppable’.
