Harry Belafonte falls asleep live on air
October 19th, 2011 - 12:17 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor and political critic Harry Belafonte fell asleep during a live television interview with a California-based television station. The episode has been uploaded on the Internet and it is fast going viral.
The 84-year-old appeared on KBAK in California as part of his tour to promote his new book “My Song.” The book is his memoir and during what was supposed to be a live interview on the TV network, Belafonte dozed off leaving the anchors amused.
A co-anchor prompted the 84-year-old saying “Wake up, wake up.” Belafonte has been very active in the last couple of months and the anchors apologized on his behalf that it might be the reason why he was caught napping on what was supposed to be a live television interview.
The veteran actor and singer was on the TV station on Friday morning but the anchors explained that he has already been to some other networks and that might have had a toll on the octogenarian.
The best part of the whole episode was when one of the anchor prompted Belafonte “This is your wake-up call.” When Belafonte finally opened his eyes, he laughed the whole incident off.
