Arlington, May 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) PBS’s “NewsHour” website was hacked and a phony story posted there. The story was to the effect that the late rapper Tupac Shakur was alive and living in New Zealand. As at Monday, the story had been taken from the website.

PBS confirmed the hacking of its website on Monday. A group has claimed responsibility for the attack saying it was revenge for a piece that “Frontline” did on WikiLeaks.

“Frontline” aired “WikiSecrets” last week. The investigative piece was about how the US diplomatic cables were leaked to the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks. The executive producer of the show David Fanning told reporters that, “From our point of view, we just see it as a disappointing and irresponsible act, especially since we have been very open to publishing criticism of the film … and the film included other points of view. This kind of action is irresponsible and chilling.”

PBS informed that all the parties who will be affected by the hack have been informed of the incident.

The death of Tupac is still a controversial issue. Some conspirators insist that Tupac is still alive but hiding. The story posted on the website helped fuel those arguments.
