October 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited movie ‘Guzarish’ is undergoing last minute changes. Bhansali is reworking the ‘Hinglish’ dialogues of the movie, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.
With an aim to give a mass appeal to the movie, Bhansali is making few changes in the dialogues. Since the movie is set in Goa with Portugese backdrop, many dialogues were delivered in English but now, the director is dubbing some of them in Hindi to give it more mass appeal.
The producers of Guzarish think that the English pattern would not appeal Indian audience and they don’t want to take any risk. Hrithik’s earlier film ‘Kites’ contained foreign languages and it failed to impress the viewers as most of the Indian people could not connect to it.
A source was quoted saying that since the film is set in Goa, they were bound to use English as a part of the inhabitants of the state are Portugese. Now, when the film is ready, the producers and director Bhansali thinks that they need more Hindi dialogues to appeal to Indian audiences.
Initially, the makers wanted to give a very authentic feel to the movie, but finally, they realized the fact that most of the viewers are comfortable in Hindi so it might not appeal to them. So, they have started reworking on the dialogues.
The source added that the film, which is based on the concept of ‘mercy killing’, will now have 95% in Hindi
Siddharth Roy Kapoor, the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, was quoted saying that this Hindi film is being made mainly for Indian audiences and other South Asian countries, so no separate dub is coming at all.
The official spokesperson of Sanjay Leela Bhansali also denied the dubbing report and said that the movie was always in Hindi, so no change is required.
