Gus Johnson to leave CBS
May 6th, 2011 - 8:29 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York City, May 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sports Illustrated has announced that Gus Johnson will be leaving CBS at the expiry of his contract. The report said failure to reach a new deal forced the two parties to part ways.
Johnson has been a sports presenter for CBS over the years. His successes over the years and the attention that he has got for himself have got many people to question CBS’ decision to allow Johnson to leave. Johnson is well known for March Madness although he has also covered events like the NFL and some Olympic sports.
CBS recently announced that due to deal differences, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric will not renew her contract with the network which runs out on the 5th of June. Recent media reports have linked Katie with a new deal with rival ABC which will see her host her own daytime show. The reports say the network has advanced $20 million to Katie to start the production of the new show.
Johnson will not find himself without job though. He already has contracts with Big Ten Network and Showtime. He cover boxing for Showtime and do college basketball for the Big Ten Network.
