Mar 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The weekend was no fun at all for Gun and Roses in South America. According to Gun and Roses, the show which they had previously told fans did not exist, incited a riot on Friday. The spokesmen for Guns n Roses quickly denied that there was to be a secret show, once the rumors came out. This did not stop several people in San Paulo, Brazil from showing up, and then starting the riot. Some reports claim that Guns n Roses did not cancel until the last minute, and thus the reason why the rich rioters showed up. Gun and Roses, however, maintains that they did indeed deny the “secret” gigs as soon as the reports were out.
According to the fans, the riot was sparked because Guns and Roses did have a show scheduled for an A-List crowd at an exclusive Sao Paulo club, which was to be hosted by supermodel Ana Beattriz Barros. After they had waited for hours and hours for the band to show up, they were finally told that Guns and Roses would not be performing. It was then that the mayhem began.
A source says, “The audience got angry and started to mount the stage, and fight and destroy everything. It was wild. There were fights everywhere, on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, outside the club. Crazy. I guess the free drinks didn’t help.”
To top it all off, the band had to turn around and cancel their March 14th concert due to problems which were far beyond their control. This sign was posted in Rio, must to the dismay of those who had bought tickets for the occasion: “ATTENTION: The March 14th GUNS N’ ROSES show in Rio De Janeiro at Apoteose Stadium has been officially canceled for this evening due to the stage collapsing because of heavy rains”
Whichever version of the story is true, the weekend was not good for either Guns and Roses, nor their fans.
