guillermo-del-toro-006June 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was being touted as the next great cinematic extravaganza but with director Guillermo del Toro opting out of the project the future of ‘The Hobbit’, the prequel to the ‘lord Of the Rings’ hangs in Balance. The director has made it clear that he will no longer be involved with it and this has made the producers of the two part prequel worried. Especially, Peter Jackson who is the executive producer is in trouble. The Hobbit ran into trouble mostly because of the prolonged delay. MGM which is struggling now has not given it the nod and the director apparently got fed up of waiting for it. The director said that he was not pleased with his own decision but there was hardly any choice left for him.

The director was being approached by other producers as well. The news has come as a rude shock for some fans of the Lord of the rings. He earlier directed flicks like Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth and Blade II movies. MGM is still mired in financial mess and this made the director say adieu to the Hobbits. However, he will continue to be a co-writer for The Hobbit for screen play. Peter Jackson said on his part that he felt sorry at his departure but it was an amiable decision.

Now Peter Jackson will have to find a new director for the project. It is not known who would be roped in to fill in the post of ace director Guillermo del Toro. The process will further delay thew filming and that is sad.
