Nov 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ace film director Guillermo del Toro has joined hands with David Eick the “Battlestar Galactica” executive producer and Disney to make “The Hulk” TV series. The TV series will be aired on ABC reports have poured in. The director is now absorbed in the pre-production work of ‘At the Mountains of Madness’ his 2D horror epic. This is going to mark his debut in TV and with The Hulk Disney will make first TV production post its acquisition of Marvel in January this year. In order to keep a check on the production costs Disney will resort to “a mixture of prosthetics, puppetry and CGI” as opposed to totally computer controlled visual effects. Guillermo del Toro will look after the character design part in the upcoming TV series as it has been reported.
Guillermo del Toro has said in an interview that he was always attracted by the story of Hulk but did not get an offer to direct film on the fascinating character. The first hulk film was made by director Ang Lee and actor Eric Bana played the character of the human turned monster in it. The character will be played by Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers which will be released in 2012. There is no doubt that Guillermo del Toro will do a splendid job of making a TV series on the Incredible hulk.
The Hulk TV series will be based on the life of fictional character Bruce Banner. It looks like ABC would not get it ready before 2012. The ace director said he and David Eick have found “a respectful but powerful way of retelling the Banner/Hulk story in a fresh way.”
