greenDC Comics hero, Hal Jordan or Green Lantern is set to hit the big screens in an animated avatar on the 28th of July, 2009, in the movie named “Green Lantern: First Flight” This animated emerald green hero gets to hit the screen much long before the viewers get to see actor Ryan Reynolds in the live action movie, after the actor managed to bag the plum title role.

The voice over has been done by actors like Chris Meloni who is the voice for Hal Jordan, Tricia Helfer for Boodikka, Juliet Landau (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) behind Labella’s character, Michael Madsen for Kilowog and Victor Garber for Sinestro’s character. The all star cast is surely going to give a huge boost to the films credibility; the already scaling popularity for the character of Green Lantern as a part of the elite troop of DC heroes of “Justice League of America” and the engaging storyline is sure to draw in young DC fans in hordes to the theater.

The plot of the film aims to provide an insight in to the origin of the Green Lantern, the nemesis of all evil doers in the universe. Hal Jordan, a pilot by profession, accepts a mysterious ring from a dying alien creature, which when he put on, turns him in to the Green Lantern. He is recruited in the elite Guardians of the Universe force and is placed to be trained under Sinestro.

The Guardians are unaware of Sinestro’s true intention of overpowering the elite order and forging one of his own to take control. It is a fight of the ‘universal’ good against evil to reach the ultimate destiny.
