Los Angeles, Jan 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Green Day won the Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards 2010. They won it for their album “21st Century Breakdown“. The group was ecstatic over their win.
Green Day is an American rock band, which had basically 3 members. It was formed in 1987. The band boasts of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) for the major part of the band’s existence.
Green Day was earlier a part of the punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. Green Day’s early album earned a huge fan base, which was basically at the grassroots level. And when the band got signed on, by a major label then the fans felt that the grassroots level band had sold out. But all the same, this didn’t have any effect on their popularity, as their album Dookie in 1994 became a huge success. It sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. and 15 million worldwide
