Grand Ole Opry House Flooded, Music Artists Anxious

grandNashville, May 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The country stars got saddened when they learnt that the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, considered as the mecca of country music, got flooded. They are worried about the incident and want to know how much damage has been done to that landmark by the floodwaters. Eminent singer Blake Shelton poured out his worry over e-mail. Dierks Bentley, a Grand Ole Opry member postponed a few shows to look after his house which has also been affected by flooding. However, he said that he is more anxious about the Grand Ole Opry house.

He said in a statement that the floodwater has affected the residents of the city overall. It is still to be known how much water is there in the house. From the pictures that are available in the web it seems the water level is around 3 feet high. The shows that were scheduled to take place there have been shifted to other venues. Karl Dean, the mayor of Nashville has announced emergency and said that the rainfall that has caused the flooding is record breaking. A number of stranded residents had to be rescued by boats. The roads in the city are all submerged and without boats transportation is not possible. The situation has took the city administration by surprise.

The Opry House is a part of Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Hotel complex. The Cumberland River started overflowing owing to excessive rains and the place got inundated by Monday. The Grand Ole Opry takes place in the same place every year since 1974. The building also holds a number of other concerts as well.
