goneDec.16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are some Hollywood movies that have achieved cult status over the years and their appeal remains unfazed decade after decades. One such instance in clear scrutiny is Gone With The Wind, that continues to create waves among the viewers and the critics. It has been aired numerous times on popular TV channels and DVD and CD editions of the film are also available. However, Blu-Ray is the next generation storage media standard and a lot of classic movies are being digitally re-mastered to debut in Blu-Ray versions. Recently a blu-ray version of Gone With The Wind has been released for the fans.

It has been named as ‘70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition’ and Warner Brothers has priced it at $84.99. The set consists of 3 discs. The cute velvet box also contains images and CD soundtrack samples. As a matter of fact, the film looks great on Blu-Ray. The detail and colors are simply breathtaking. The grand civil war romance adapted from Margaret Mitchell’s popular novel still holds it appeal ages later, proving once and again just how versatile and evergreen the romance of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara is.

When the movie [as well as the book] was released several decades back, it created furor among the critics for its bold theme. It took the box office by storm and won 10 Oscar awards. Victor Fleming bagged the Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture. While Vivian Leigh walked away with Best Actress award, McDaniel got the honor for Best supporting actress and she became the first Black American to win Academy awards. The movie can also be found in standard 2 DVD editions.
