Goldstone Technologies to launch Internet TV in Thailand

Mumbai, Feb 21 (IANS) Secunderabad-based Goldstone Technologies Ltd will launch Internet protocol television (IPTV) services in Thailand in collaboration with Synap Media and Infotecch Ltd, the company said Thursday. Informing the Bombay Stock Exchange of this development, the firm said it was setting up the global IPTV to primarily target non-resident Indians.
Apart from Thailand, the company has signed distribution agreements for France, Belgium, Spain, Morocco, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, the Netherlands and Britain.
Nandan Kundetkar, chairman of Goldstone Technologies, said: “The focus for the IPTV services in Thailand would be on tourism and hospitality industry to leverage the growing travel by Indians to the southeast Asian kingdom.”
The company has got an order for 3,000 set-top boxes to be supplied to subscribers in Thailand over the next four months.
“The company is expecting to sign up about 75,000 subscribers in the first full year of operations of its IPTV services,” Kundetkar said.
Goldstone Technologies has its network operating centre in Taiwan and offers live streaming of 20 TV channels, along with movies in Hindi, English and several Indian regional languages.
It also has its IPTV services project underway in India, in association with the public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd over the latter’s broadband network.
