‘Golden Girls’ Actress Rue McClanahan Suffers Stroke

rueLos Angeles, Jan 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) American actress Rue McClanahan has suffered a minor heart attack while she was recuperating from a heart bypass surgery, reports claim. It has been revealed that the actress has been doing well now and is likely to be discharged from the hospital by the end of the month.

A representative of the much acclaimed actress has stated that Rue McClanahan underwent a heart surgery in the month of November last year. The 75 year old ‘Golden Girls’ star had to spent two weeks in a medical facility to receive treatment following a successful operation in which a blood clot was removed from her brain. It has been revealed that the actress is showing steady signs of recovery although her speech has slurred a bit following the surgery. Moreover, the actress is also having difficulty in moving the right side of her body, which has been adversely affected.

At the same time, the representative has also added that Rue McClanahan is now receiving physical therapy and is expected to be released from the medical facility by the month end.

Meanwhile, Rue McClanahan is best known for starring in the popular NBC television sitcom ‘The Golden Girls’, which was aired during the 80’s and the early 90’s. The veteran actress’ successful portrayal of the character of Blanche Devereaux also earned her the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for the year 1987. Apart from Rue McClanahan, the other surviving member of the popular sitcom is Betty White, who is all set to win the lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild awards which is scheduled to held later this month.
