Panaji, Nov 21 (IANS) The 41st edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) starting in Goa Monday will serve as a launch pad for the Oscar journey of “Peepli Live”, an official said Sunday. The film is India’s official entry at the Academy Awards.
Directorate of Film Festivals head S.M. Khan said that “Peepli Live” would be screened in the Indian Panorama section at the IFFI. It would be followed by an interaction with the film’s director Anusha Rizvi.
“A special screening of ‘Peepli Live’ is being organised offering a unique international platform to position an Indian film in the run-up to the Academy Awards,” Khan told reporters at a press conference here.
“Director Anusha Rizvi will also be interacting with the audience after the screening,” Khan said.
Produced by Bollywood actor-producer Aamir Khan, the film is a dark, comic satire that explores the contemporary issue of farmer suicides and media and political response to it.
