Gloria Stuart “Rose” From ‘The Titanic’ Movie Dies Age 100
September 28th, 2010 - 12:25 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Gloria Stuart, who is now best known as the older ‘Rose’ in the movie ’Titanic’, has died at the age of 100. she was born on the United States Independence Day, July 4, 1910, and passed away on September 26, 2010.
She had a Hollywood career which lasted over 70 years, starting off as a glamorous blond actress back in the 1930s. She became the oldest Oscar nominee in history w she received an Academy Award nomination in 1997 for her role as Rose.
She was 87 at the time the movie was filmed and joked later that she was one of the very few actresses her age who was “still viable, not alcoholic, rheumatic or falling down.” She also laughed about her career taking off so late, “When I graduated from Santa Monica High in 1927, I was voted the girl most likely to succeed. I didn’t realize it would take so long.”
