glenAug 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday, thousands of people are expected to gather at the site of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, at the Lincoln Memorial in a rally called by Conservative radio talk show host Glen Beck and some other groups. The rally which is coinciding with the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous speech has been named “Restoring Honor” rally that will be attended by many well known personalities including Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. A gathering of around 100,000 people is being expected at the rally and as per reports the District of Columbia officials have granted a permit for some 300,000 people.

Although Glen Beck, a FOX News personality and a conservative radio talk show host who is organizing the rally in collaboration with many other organizers has maintained that it is a pure coincidence that the date of the rally has coincided with the anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech, some recent comments made by the host has made many civil rights groups criticize the rally and Glen Beck as racist. The rally according to the organizers, aims to pay tribute to America’s military personnel and others who embody the “nation’s founding principles of integrity, truth and honor”.

However, conservative blog post on web on the event has mentioned allegedly that certain areas of the capital were unsafe holding at the same time that the city was populated by refugees. This has angered many civil rights groups who have vehemently criticized the “Restoring honor” rally organizers. On top of the above racist criticisms the “Restoring Honor” rally of Glen Beck’s speech at the Kennedy Center on Friday night also hinted at the religious aspect of the rally.
