glen August 28, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin as well as a large number of conservative members will help in rallying a huge crown in front of the Lincoln Memorial at Washington DC, this Saturday.

Three buses full of people from the upstate cities left for the rally on Friday evening. The bus stopped at Market view and Eastplace in order to take in more people who were waiting in front of the malls.

John Woods, the one who organized the trip, said that 30 people had already been wait listed while a 35 more had expressed the wish of driving down themselves.

The rally, titled, ‘Restoring Honor’, has already come up for severe criticism. It has been planned at the same place as Martin Luther King Junior’s ‘I have a Dream speech’. The rally also coincides with the 47th anniversary of the famous speech. A number of counter rallies opposing it has also been planned on the day.

The Glenn Beck event will also include a speech by Alveda King, who happens to be Martin Luther King’s niece. Beck, however, says that the date wasn’t chosen intentionally. He nevertheless said that it was a perfect fit.

Several people waiting for the bus to carry them to the venue on Friday evening, the mood there being hopeful and upbeat. Most of them believed that chosing such a date was not wrong as it gave them a chance to pay their tributes to the legend.

Beck also added that the rally was in no way connected to the ‘Tea Party movement’ and it was not a political event.

The rally will also be used to raise funds for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation through its merchandise sales and online donations. The money thus accrued will be used for the injured war veterans like the Green Berets.

Reverend El Sharpton stated that the entire event being held on the anniversary of Dr. King’s speech seems to be a little out of context as his views were very unlike that of Beck and Palin.
