gleeIf you had all the ingredients of “Porky’s” , “High School Musical”and “Freaks and Geeks” in one show it would blend to form “Glee“, which premiered its show on Wednesday on Fox. The channel had beaten lots of drums for marketing the show and figured out that it will stick with its season premiere broadcasting rather than air the Obama speech on health reforms as done by PBS, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, Fox News or CSPAN.

This recent episode (no.2), “Showmance” opened with Spanish teacher Will(Matthew Morrison) of Ohio High School indulging in shaping a choir, by polishing up a group of sidelined students, the idea of which arouses the antagonism of institution’s cheerleading squad coach Jane Lynch, the smarter kids of the school and the school administration.

Will’s wife also meets up with her doctor, who informs her that she is not pregnant as she thinks, which is why she talks her husband out of the proposition of buying a new big home. The materialistic nature of Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), is a contrast to her husband Will’s idealism.

Even if you do not entirely approve of the lyrics of the musical, you will love how the catchy music adds to the character of the show. The way the concept of teen sexuality is dealt with, paves way automatically for the natural comical attribute of the show.

The show also puts your mind to the high school drama (movie) “Bring It On” which had a genuine concern for the underdog even though it delineated its plot in a funny and enthralling manner.
