Glee has become a phenomenon since it premiered in 2010. It has gone on to collect more awards and accolades than nightmares that Sue Sylvester has given her cheerleaders. Now the cast of Glee has just added another feather to their cap. They have became achieved the record of attaining the fastest twenty Top 40 hits in the UK singles chart.
Back in 1950s Elvis Presley made the record after 88 weeks, while the Glee cast made the record in 57 weeks. The first entered the UK chart in 2010 when they debuted with ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and it seems that neither they nor the fans have stopped believing them ever since. On Monday after the airing of the Britney Spears tribute episode the hit ‘Toxic’ entered the chart to make the new record.
The Official Chart Company, Matin Talbot said that it is an amazing feat achieved by Glee as they were able to break the 50year old record held by the legendary Elvis Presley. It also demonstrates the success and the popularity of the show along with the engagement the music has with its audience. The show and the cast according to Talbot have now become the digital music age’s superstars.
The three hits from the top ten of the Glee are ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and ‘Halo/Walking On Sunshine. So far Glee has already sold over 2 million singles in UK only and over five million worldwide and they are in no hurry to slow down.
