Glee singer Charice’s father killed
November 1st, 2011 - 10:35 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattManila, Philippines, Nov 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Glee singer Charice Pempengco pulled out of a planned concert in Singapore after her father was killed in Philippines. Police say Ricky Pempengco was stabbed to death on Monday night after he got into a fight with a drunken man.
Laguna province police chief Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz announced that the 40-year-old was leaving a grocery store when the incident happened. The suspect has not been arrested but the police have placed 20,000 pesos ($470) bounty on his head.
19-year-old Charice and her father have strained relations. The father reportedly separated from the mother when Charice was still small. The two have not managed to mend their relationship since then.
Charice apologized to her fans in Singapore for the cancelation of the concert which was slated for Wednesday. She wrote that, “I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family.”
She later explained that she still holds a special place in her heart for father adding that “He’s still my Dad after all.”
Charice has recurring role as Sunshine Corazon on the highly successful FOX show “Glee.”
