“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy regrets ‘Kings of Leon’ comment

Los Angeles, April 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ryan Murphy has admitted that he went too far when he called the band, Kings of Leon, “as-holes” for refusing to allow his show “Glee” use their song for one of the show’s production. Murphy has subsequently apologized for the remark saying the show has had several rejections in the past.

Murphy who is the creator of the musical series got pissed when he was denied the permission by Kings of Leon to use their song “Use Somebody” for one of the show’s episodes. He subsequently said the following about the Nashville, Tenn. band, “F— you, Kings of Leon. They’re self-centred a——s … It’s like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of ‘Glee’ all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music.”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy apologized for the outburst saying he had no right to call the band ‘as-holes’ for refusing to give him permission to use the song. He seemed to be backtracking from the comments when he said that he was not understood. He revealed that he hold no grudges with the band for refusing him the request.
