‘Gilligan’s Island’ Movie To Be Made By Warner Bros

Los Angeles, Mar 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) ‘Gilligan’s Island’, which used to be a popular TV series in the US a few decades back is going to be adapted for movie. It is going to be a project of none other than Warner Brothers. The TV series became a hit with the US TV viewers back in the 1960s. The casting is not finalized as of now, but the industry sources feel that Michael Cera could be roped in for playing the lead in the film adaptation of ‘Gilligan’s Island’. In the TV series the role was essayed by Bob Denver. The movie will be produced by Charles Roven, who has revealed that the film will be given a modernized and updated feel so that it can cater to the changing tastes of the viewers.
The characters in the original series kept the viewers hooked to their TV sets years back and the producer wants to keep them as interesting in the film version. However, the director of the movie is yet to be selected. The TV series ran for three seasons and close to 100 episodes. Its run ended on September 1967. The screenplay of the movie is likely to be developed and molded by Brad Copeland. Since the movie is in its pre production stage, it is not certain when it will be released. However, the industry veterans feel it will see a release date of 2011.
It remains to be seen if the movie manages to recreate the magic of the original series. The fans of the series will compare the movie to the series for sure.
