Mel Gibson London, May 5 (IANS) Troubled actor Mel Gibson’s cockney accent in “The Beaver” is so perfect that the audiences thought it was Michael Caine, Ray Winstone or Bob Hoskins who dubbed the voice for him.

“Some people thought it was Michael Caine or Ray Winstone or Bob Hoskins, talking as the beaver, and that Mel was lip syncing,” contactmusic. com quoted director Jodie Foster as saying.

Foster earlier tried to convince Gibson that his accent didn’t have to be perfect for his role as a puppeteer in the movie but the 55-year-old insisted on getting it 100 percent right.

“It was originally an English accent and we turned it into a Cockney accent. The beaver (puppet) is a working class south London scrapper,” she added.
