Patrick Swayze’s untimely demise has shocked Hollywood and his fans alike, with touching tributes from a number of celebrities.
His “Ghost’ co –star Demi Moore paid tribute to the talented actor in a very touching way- by quoting words from their 1990 movie “Ghost’.
Reportedly she expressed her sorrow over the death of the late actor over Twitter.com blog quoting their characters from the hit film.
She wrote: “Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives. In the words of Sam to Molly. ‘It’s amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.’ I will miss you.”
Swayze had passed away on Monday in Los Angeles after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He had disclosed to the public about his illness in 2008 and had been regularly under chemotherapy. He had great determination to survive and also denied the news, which mentioned that he was on the verge of passing away, as he had disclosed that the cancer has metastasized to liver.
His other ‘Ghost’ co-star Whoopi Goldberg also emotionally remembered the actor and dedicated her Oscar to him.
She said: “This was a well-fought battle. He worked, he did his show, he just was a cat that never gave up. I would like to be able to be that. I would like to have that bravery. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Because of Patrick Swayze, I got that movie, “Ghost’. Because of Patrick Swayze, I have an Oscar.”
His “Dirty Dancing’ co-star Jennifer Grey said: “Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. Gorgeous and strong, he was a real cowboy with a tender heart. He was fearless and insisted on always doing his own stunts, so it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified.”
Actor Rob Lowe said he had “lost a brother” and added: “Patrick lived a thousand lifetimes in one lifetime. He was an expert dancer, he wrote hit songs, he starred in hit movies, he was an amazing horseman. But the thing I will remember him most for was his amazing love affair with his wife Lisa. He played my brother twice, in “The Outsiders’ when I was 17, and then in “Youngblood’. Tonight I lost a brother.”
The spirit of Swayze in Hollywood lives on. RIP.
