Los Angeles, Jan 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) British comedian Ricky Gervais defended his Golden Globe jokes last year when he appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Gervais is scheduled to host the show again this weekend.

This will be the third time that Gervais will be hosting the prestigious awards. During a chat with Ellen on Thursday, Gervais revealed why he accepted to host the show again despite swearing not to do it again.

He told Ellen that, “The reason I said yes the first time was because I was very flattered. It was a huge global audience for a comedian. I like writing jokes. That’s what I do. The reason I did it the second time was I thought I could improve on the first. Which, I think I did. I wasn’t going to do it again, but there were loads of people in the press saying I’d never be invited back, and that’s why I said yes.”

Gervais said he was aware of what he was doing so when the criticism came in after the show last year, he was prepared for them. One thing was clear during the conversation with Gervais. Despite being accused of being nasty with his jokes, Gervias insists that is nothing compared to his standup shows. According to him, no subject is out of limit as far as his jokes are concerned.
