Washington, November 29 (ANI): Gerard Butler fears being committed to a woman because of his father who walked out on his mother.

The 300 star was brought up by single mother, Margaret as his father, Edward, moved out, when he was still a child.

“I act very awkward when I am with women. Perhaps that’s because my mother brought me up alone,’ Contactmusic quoted him as telling German magazine Joy

He added: “My father gambled away all our money and eventually went bankrupt. So one night our family had to flee to Canada.

“At that time my mother was five months pregnant with me. Shortly after my second birthday my father let us down.

“It is said that men who grow up without a father have a fear of commitment.”

However, he feels it is the right time for him to get married.

He quipped: “It’s about time (to marry).” (ANI)
