London, December 25 (ANI): Gerard Butler has revealed that an early role in a school nativity play helped him tread the path for his breakthrough as King Leonidas in the 2007 blockbuster 300.

The Scottish actor, who shot to fame with his portrayal of the legendary Spartan monarch, said it was easier for him to handle the role since he had already played a King in an early Christmas pageant.

“I was one of the Three Kings in the Nativity, the one that brought the myrrh,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling Empire magazine.

“I kept thinking, ‘Why am I not bringing a gift that’s worth something? What’s my motivation?’

“Even then, I knew I was destined to play another king. ‘He should be bringing an army of 300 guys and kicking some a**! This is boring!’” he added. (ANI)
