London, Mar 12 (ANI): Singer George Michael has praised Spice Girls for changing the British music industry for female singers.
Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm rose to fame in the 1990s with their pop hits and “Girl Power” mantra.
Michael insists the group has influenced today’s music by inspiring young girls, such as singers Adele and Jessie J, to become musicians.
“I know people don’t take them seriously, but I think the Spice Girls changed the entire landscape and British music massively under-exploited female talent,” the Daily Star quoted Michael as saying on radio show In:Demand
“These girls now that are out there are absolutely giving the Americans a run for their money, they come from that generation that ran around the playgrounds going ‘girl power’, and I think that’s fantastic,” he added. (ANI)
