George Lopez’s show ‘Lopez Tonight’ draws crowds

Los Angeles, Nov 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) George Lopez’s new late-night talk show ‘Lopez Tonight’ drew a whooping 3.2 million viewers during its cross-network premiere on the channels TNT, TBS and TruTv.

“The revolution begins right now,” said Lopez as he took the stage. “This is what America looks like, right here. Everybody is multicultural.”

Lopez started the show with a joke about ethnicity, which his grandmother used to joke about, “If she saw an Asian person, she remembered she needed a pedicure. If she saw an African-American, she remembered she had to lock the house.”

The ratings on the channels were a bit skewed too, as the show was broadcast on 3 channels simultaneously. However TBS channel claimed that 1.7 million viewers saw the show, which is said to be higher than the current season averages for the other talk shows too.

George Lopez’s first show featured a section, in which people were stopped on the street and asked a question involving ethnic stereotypes, like a Latino man was asked if he paid for his cable TV. A white man was asked if he used the N-word. Then two people were asked to guess the answers and the one who guessed the most correct answers won a dinner for two people.
