george-clooney Los Angeles, July 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) George Clooney has always been a favorite with Hollywood since a long time. The man is known for his great sense of humor and for his charming ways. The Hollywood’s number one bachelor is all set to receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

George Clooney is set to gain recognition for his special contribution to charitable events like for the victims of the Darfur genocide and for the hapless victims of hurricane Katrina. His efforts for the special TV event dubbed Hope for Haiti (which has already been nominated for an Emmy award) will also be recognized.

Clooney was the fourth person to receive this award and John Shaffner, TV academy’s chairman and chief executive officer dubbed Clooney as an “”an obvious choice””.

Clooney has never won an Emmy until now even though he’s been nominated twice for his part as of Doug Ross on ER. He however was awarded an Oscar in 2005 playing a supportive role in Syriana.

Clooney will be halfway through the journey to win an EGOT acronym for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony now that he’s already won an Oscar and Emmy. Few people have had that achievement including Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbra Streisand and Liza Minnelli.
