George Clinton’s son dies due to liver disease

Tallahassee, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) George Clinton Jr., who is the son of the funk mastermind George Clinton, was found dead in his Florida home on Monday, Feb. 1, at the age of 50. A maintenance person discovered his body at 12:30 PM Monday. He subsequently called the Leon County Sheriff’s Office from the Tallahassee apartment complex, where George Clinton Jr. used to reside. When the police reached the apartment, then it seemed that Clinton Jr. had been dead for several days.
There doesn’t seem to be any suspicion of foul play in the death of the 50-year-old George Clinton Jr. The police have completed their investigation into the death, and have also said that they think that he died from natural causes. The police spokesman said that, “Barring any finding by the Medical Examiner’s Office, our investigation is complete.” Some sources also say that he died from liver disease.
Prior to his death, George Clinton Jr. had been working with his band GCIII in Florida. Clinton Jr.’s daughter Shonda survives him. She is otherwise known as the rapper Sativa Diva.
This is a double loss for the funk legend George Clinton, as he was already coping with the loss of his mother Julious G. Keaton, who passed away in December 2009.
