Gaya (Bihar), Sept.7 (ANI): With the breach in the Kosi river embankment in Kusaha, Nepal, leaving millions of people in north Bihar homeless and marooned, it is people’’s help that seems to be making the difference to their lives.
For instance in Gaya, eunuchs are raising funds for flood victims through dancing and singing performances at various places. The collection will be sent to an authentic relief agency or contributed to the State Relief Fund.
Local residents have commended this effort.
“The eunuchs are contributing to the relief funds for the flood victims affected by the River Kosi. They are coming forward entertaining the people to raise funds,” said Vibha Shrivastava, a resident of Gaya.
After learning abut the calamity affecting so many lives in five State districts, eunuchs formed a committee and resolved to make personal contributions and mobilise public donations.
“It shocked me and I fell ill after learning about the news of how my fellow mothers, sisters, brothers, fathers were going through adverse circumstances due to floods. We could not do anything much, as we belong to the eunuch community. So we have come to Gaya to collect funds for the flood victims,” said Surayia, the president of the Eunuchs” Committee in Gaya.
“All of us belong to the eunuch community and we have gathered together to collect funds in aid of flood victims. We are ready to help them,” said Sunita, another eunuch.
It is heartening to see eunuchs coming forward to help the needy. (ANI)
