Nov. 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Erstwhile Bush front-man Gavin Rossdale appeared on Nov. 11, Wednesday, in the hit series “Criminal Minds” as a vampire. The show aired at 9 p.m. on CBS. It is surely a character that is close to the heart of the rocker, as he plays a character somewhat similar to himself, that is, that of a rock star, albeit with vampiric undertones. Co-star Matthew Gray Gubler insisted that the guest appearance has nothing to do with the current craze about vampires.

Rossdale’s character in the show is called Dante. Dante is a rock star who is very disillusioned and unhappy about the way his life has shaped up. It is somewhat of a Gothic character, traced in very dark lines. Goth is his brand of music and he is also suspected of murder. To top off the impressive list, he is a “junkie”, to quote the word used by Gavin himself. The story kicks off when brutal murders start being committed in all the cities the band stop during their tour. The team starts to suspect that Dante might be behind those murders. It must have been hard for Rossdale to get the make up for Dante, whose stage look is not that unlike a vampire, complete with white skin, red lips and eyeliner.

The best part about the show was, Rossdale admits, getting to cover the hit song “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division. He admits loving the song and felt initially scared of having to sing the almost iconic hit. He was initially asked to cover Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows”, but convinced the producers to allow him to do the other.
