Gautham Vasudev Menon’s blockbuster hit ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ proved to be a sleeper hit in Telugu as well. Brimmed with hopes of making it bigger in Bollywood, the filmmaker signed Prateik Babbar (Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhobi Ghat’ fame) and Trisha in lead roles. The film was supposed to be produced by Gowtham Menon’s Photon Kathaas Factory in collaboration with Fox Star Studios. Due to delayed shooting schedules, Trisha walked out of the project due to her busy dates with ‘Mankatha’ and Telugu remake of ‘Love Aaj Kal’.

Apparently, Gautham Menon signed ‘Madharasapattinam’ fame Amy Jackson replacing Trisha. However as the British model felt it difficult emoting with mannerisms of style of India girl, the moviemaker had to literally give up at last. According to the sources, Prateik Babbar had no other options other than walking out of project due to his other commitments.

It is worth mentioning that Gautham Menon’s venture hasn’t been successful before. Well he made his debut directorial in B-town with the remake of his ‘Minnale’. The film starring Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan and Dia Mirza (her debut movie) didn’t work well at box office. Later he had plans of remaking Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu in Hindi with Amitabh Bacchan and unfortunately it didn’t happen due to some reasons.
