Gary Coleman in hospital

garycoleman May 28, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Gary Coleman, the former television child star has been admitted into a Utah hospital after reportedly being in a critical condition. He was hospitalized on Wednesday after suffering a head injury due to a fall.

This is the third time this year that the forty two year old actor has been hospitalized. A spokeswoman of the hospital refused to give any detail of his condition and insisted that his family might be giving details to media on Friday.

His family released a statement on Thursday saying he has been taken to the hospital with a serious medical problem and they hope that he will quickly recover and return home.

Coleman who has a history of bad health has two kidney transplants and was on daily dialysis. He had a heart surgery last year last year in which complications arose after he got pneumonia. He suffers from a congenital kidney disease which hampered his growth leading to his small height.

Coleman gained widespread recognition after portraying the role of Arnold Jackson on sitcom Different Strokes from 1978 to 1986. The show was a huge success and Coleman in particular became the favorite of the audiences with his catchphrase “What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?”

He met his future wife, Shannon Price on the sets of 2006 comedy film Church ball. They secretly married in August 2007.
