Garrison Keillor back to hosting his show, after his stroke

Garrison Keillor St. Paul, Sep 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The vivacious and the effervescent host Garrison Keillor is back to his show “A Prairie Home Companion” after he was out of the scene for almost 3 weeks since suffering a stroke.

The 67-year-old host Garrison Keillor suffered a mild stroke on Labor Day and spent four days at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He has now returned to work and said he had no plans to postpone the upcoming season of “Prairie Home.”

The season premiere of the show was followed by an annual meatloaf supper and free street dance featuring the show-host Keillor with singer Andra Suchy (SOO’-kee), Salsa del Soul, the Sam Bush Band and the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band.

Besides being a radio personality, Garrison is also an American author, storyteller, humorist, columnist, musician and satirist. He is known as host of the Minnesota Public Radio show A Prairie Home Companion (also known as Garrison Keillor’s Radio Show on United Kingdom’s BBC 7, as well as on RTE in Ireland and Australia’s ABC).

In 1994, Garrison Keillor was inducted into the prestigious Radio Hall of Fame. The multi talented Keillor wrote the screenplay for the 2006 movie A Prairie Home Companion, directed by Robert Altman.

Keillor has written numerous magazine and newspaper articles, and over a dozen books for adults as well as children. In addition to The New Yorker, he has also written for The Atlantic Monthly and Salon.com.
