Gareth Edwards to direct ‘Godzilla’ remake
January 5th, 2011 - 6:08 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Jan 5 (IANS) British director Gareth Edwards has been roped in to direct the new “Godzilla” movie.”Godzilla” would be Edwards’ second film - he wrote and directed low-budget sci-fi “Monsters,” for which he won trophies for best director and best technical achievement last month at the British Independent Film Awards.
He is also expected to work on the script of the monster movie, written by David Callaham, reports variety.com.
Warners and production partners Legendary Pictures have made announcements about the deal with Japan’s Toho studios to make a new attempt at the city-crushing beast and that they will release it in 2012.
The latest Godzilla will hope to improve on Roland Emmerich’s 1998 film the recipient of myriad negative reviews and two gongs from the annual Golden Raspberry awards for bad films
