Mar 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) AMC cable channel will broadcast Martin Scorsese’s epic motion picture “Gangs Of New York” this Sunday. The multi Oscar nominated movie happens to be one of the very best of Martin Scorsese’s sheer geniuses. However, the cult classic had a tough time at the Oscars despite of the fact that it wasnominated for 10 Oscars including Best Actor, Best Picture & Best Director.
The storyline dates back to New York, 1846 when Irish immigrant clans flocked into Five Points. The very act brought along in its trail traces of contempt, disgrace and severe issues of resentment from all US born Dutch & British heritage. Daniel Day Lewis earned his Oscar nomination for his role of William Cutting a.k.a. “Bill the Butcher” essayed by Daniel Day-Lewis depicting some extraordinary skills with knife. The story follows into a bloody mesh of encounters between the two group; the Natives and the Rabbits, where Priest Vallon wounds up dead and his son is reported to be missing.
In due course of time, the missing child lands up in a crude reform school and finally returns to Five Points in 1862.Leonardo DiCaprio is impeccable in his portrayal of Amsterdam, who comes back in the town in order to seek revenge against “Bill the butcher”.Amsterdam moves inward towards Bill the Butcher’s circle members and wins his trust in a short span of time.He also falls for Jenny Everdeane, essayed by Cameron Diaz, who is a pretty street thief.Amsterdam finds himself in the muddy waters when his cover is blown off and the story takes a major turn that involves a rough tussle between Amsterdam and Bill.
