Gang Starr MC Guru In Coma After Heart Attack

Guru New York Mar 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rap star “Guru,” leader of the group who helped pioneer hip-hop known as “Gang Starr and the Jazzmatazz project,” is reportedly in a coma after suffering a heart attack on Sunday. Guru,(Keith Elam) is set to undergo surgery today, March 1. He is 43 years old. Guru’s condition was confirmed by his partner “D.J. Premier”

Premier was supposed to be featured on Sirius XM’s Hip Hop Nation to talk about Guru’s condition late Sunday night, however he did not make the show. It was said on the producer’s blog that the situation was too sensitive for him to speak out on, but Guru was said to be “fighting for his life,” and it was confirmed to Sirius that he had indeed suffered a heart attack that led to a coma.

The group consists of Guru (Keith Elam)from Massachusetts, and Premier ( Christopher Martin) from Texas. They teamed together to form Gang Starr, which helped to sculpt New York’s underground rap’s sound into what it is today. They were busy releasing albums from the late 1990’s to the early 2000’s. Their biggest accomplishment to date was their 1998 “Moment of Truth” and their last project was “The Ownerz” in 2003. The last released debut by Guru solo was a digital download known as “Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures. ”

Prayers are going out everywhere for the 43 year old rapper, and Twitter is full of buzzes of thoughts and prayers.
