London, June 13 (IANS) Pop star Lady Gaga, an active campaigner for gay rights, has urged governments around the world to support the cause and demanded an end to intolerance against the community.

“Today and every day we fight for freedom. We fight for justice. We beckon for compassion, understanding and above all we want full equality now. We have the same DNA. We were just born this way. We stand here to demand an end to intolerance,” dailystar.co.uk quoted her as saying.

Gaga is a vocal supporter of the campaign against the “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which bans homosexual US service personnel from revealing their sexuality.

“I am aware that many countries and governments worldwide still restrict their citizens from reading about LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) issues and this is what means the most to me in my career. I want all of your stories to be heard by the world.”

The 25-year-old was the star guest at the Roma Europride 2011, a rally in Rome.
