New York, Jun 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The mom of the actress Gabourey Sidibe has auditioned for the reality show ‘America’s Got Talent’. And she was so good that the audience was left amazed with her wonderful performance.

The mother of the Academy Award nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe – Alice Tan Ridley’s performance was shown on TV on Tuesday. She sang the Etta James song ‘At Last’. And her performance was so wonderful, that she got a standing ovation from the audience. And the judges were also so moved, that they voted her onto the next round, that would be held in Las Vegas.

A spokeswoman for NBC added that Sidibe’s mother – the 58-year-old Alice Tan Ridley had shot for the show in late April. She also added that prior to the taping of the show the judges were clueless about whose mother Alice was. On the show she introduced herself as a singer, who had been performing in the various subways of New York, for the last two decades.

Alice Tan Ridley’s daughter – Gabourey Sidibe took Hollywood by storm, when she made her debut in the movie ‘Precious’ which was adapted from the acclaimed novel ‘Push by Sapphire’. Her performance was so amazing, that she was also nominated for an Academy Award, which unfortunately she didn’t win.
