Dec. 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The animated movies “Frosty the Snowman” and “Frosty Returns” aired on CBS on Dec. 18. The films were broadcast back to back. While it is a treat watching both the films, considered Christmas specials, the first one is definitely way more special. Released in the 1960s, the film is a classic, and has not lost its popularity in the years to come. The second film is often regarded to be a sequel to the original, but in fact, “Frosty Returns”, the half hour long animated film that was made in 1992, was produced by different people.

Both “Frosty the Snowman” and “Frosty Returns” are aired on CBS every December, just before the Christmas season, marking the beginning of the holiday special episodes that are aired throughout this month and the next. The films deal with Frosty, a snowman built by children who miraculously come to life to battle the evil forces that threaten to take away the joy and cheer of the festive season.

In “Frosty the Snowman”, he awakes to fight against an evil magician who poses many difficulties on his way to the North Pole. Finally, Frosty is able to thwart the evil plans of the conjurer and reaches the North Pole, where he is finally at peace. Frosty makes a reappearance in “Frosty Returns”, but this time with his friend Holly. This time around, he has to battle with everybody’s aversion to snow, and has a hard time maintaining his figure by not melting. In the end, in true blue Christmas fashion, Frosty and Holly are able to convince all about the goodness of snow.
