Friday The 13th : One Of Hollywood’s Most Famous Horror Franchisee

friday-13-poster-1Aug 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Friday the 13th has a special significance for those who believe in the occult and supernatural and the movie bearing the same name continues to be one of the scariest movies ever made in Hollywood. There was a remake of the original movie which got mixed reviews from the critics. Several sequels and remakes were produced later. The first movie in the franchisee which was made during the 1980s was filmed in Hardwick Township and included a number of scenes from northern Warren County. Jason Voorhees, the central figure of the franchisee still remains one of the most dreaded horror villains in Hollywood’s history. Jason’s hockey mask has made the character a cult horror figure in the genre.

Friday The 13th is among the most successful horror franchisee in US TV and film industry. The film has been shown numerous times in TV channels but its popularity has not waned over the years. The first film was made to repeat the success of Halloween. The mysterious death of the protagonist Jason Voorhees and the subsequent killings around the cursed Camp Crystal Lake fascinated the Hollywood movie makers. A TV show was also made on the series which also turned out to be popular among the lovers of horror flicks.

The franchise was bought by Paramount and it was also adapted into novels later. The films were critically panned after release but the viewers of slasher movies gave the franchisee a thumb up. A lot of websites and online forums are dedicated towards the film and series. There are several thousand users of these sites till date.
