Sep 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) French actress Juliette Binoche has responded to the criticisms that she had to face from fellow French actor Gerard Depardieu in a recent interview. The “Chocolat” star told in a recent interview that the flurry of negative comments that Gerard Depardieu made about her in an interview caught her by surprise as she had no idea why she had been the target of his bitter rant.

The controversy was sparked when in an interview to an Austrian magazine, French actor Gerard Depardieu described the 46-year-old actress as an ‘absolutely nothing’ while adding that he did not really understand why had she been so over-esteemed over the years. The 61-year-old actor further went on to day that “What has she ever had going for her?” Reacting to the actor’s not so flattering remarks, Juliette Binoche while talking at a radio programme, expressed that she was really taken aback by the comments made by the fellow actor more so, as she does not know Gerard Depardieu while also wondering that what wrong she had done to him. At the same time, the much-acclaimed actress also went on to say that it is understandable if “you dislike someone’s work” but added that “I don’t understand the violence, in a way.”

In the meanwhile, Juliette Binoche also divulged that in the past she once had dinner with Gerard Depardieu and back then the French actor had also complimented her on her films. However, the recent flurry of negative remarks is surely making her wonder whether his kind words then had even an ounce of truth in them.
