Frankie Boyle criticized for making fun of charities
December 16th, 2010 - 9:46 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Dec 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Frankie Boyle has been highly criticized for making fun of cancer and AIDS patients. AIDS activists and Cancer institutes have joined in the call to condemn the comedian.
On his show Tramadol Nights, Boyle incurred the wrath of these organizations when he said that a friend of his who had cancer should consider herself dead. That was not particularly funny for cancer institutes and cancer patients in a whole.
If that joke was offensive, then the next joke was worse. The comedian seemed to suggest that HIV/AIDS patients had the disease because they slept with monkeys. That was also considered an insult by AIDS activists who immediately jumped in to condemn the comedian for his words. They described the comments by the comedian as “crass”.
A spokesperson of Breast Cancer Care said that, “It’s unlikely that the 120 people diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK today will find it funny.”
This is not the first time that Boyle has gotten in trouble for his comments. The comedian is already under fire for the comments that he made about Katie Price’s disabled son.
