Washington , Dec 6 (ANI): Iconic American jazz-singer Frank Sinatra will be posthumously commemorated on an American postal stamp marking his 10 th death anniversary.

The 83-year-old singer died in 1998 and the artwork featuring him will be made public in a ceremony in Beverly Hills, California on what would have been his 92nd birthday(12Dec07).

In spring 2008, the stamp will finally come into circulation.

U.S. Postmaster General, John Potter, paid tribute to the Grammy winner singer, whom he regarded as a legendary artist.

“(He was) an extraordinary entertainer whose life and work left an indelible impression on American culture, he said.

He added: “His recordings, concert performances and film work place him among America ’s top artists, and his legendary gift for transforming popular song into art is a rare feat that few have been able to replicate.”

Sinatra has been recognised by U.S. postal services for the second time.

In 2002, the Hoboken Post Office in his native New Jersey was renamed in his honour. (ANI)
